Biden Orders Partial Mobilization of US Military Reserves in Preparation for Potential World War Three with Russia

Yesterday, Biden took the ominous step of issuing an order to mobilize US active and select reserves including Individual Ready Reserve (IRR) troops to replace active-duty troops deployed along Russia’s border as part of Operation Atlantic Resolve. The only times that a US President has mobilized the reserves in recent history was in preparation to fight major wars including LBJ in Vietnam, George HW Bush in 1990 and George W Bush in 2004, the last two times were in preparation for offensive wars. Clearly, Biden is preparing to fight a potential war against Russia. The question is why?
Biden ordered the mobilization of thousands of reservists on the same day he declared, “Putin’s already lost the war,” Biden said during a joint press conference with Finnish President Sauli Niinistö. If indeed it is true that Ukraine has already defeated Russia then why is he mobilizing reserves to deploy along Russia’s borders? The events of the past year and a half have proven that Putin has no aggressive intentions against the US or NATO whatsoever as Biden has done almost everything, he could possibly do to try to provoke Russian nuclear escalation or war with NATO and Putin has refused to take the bait. Putin has shown no inclination to take Kyiv or even Kharkov which lies only 50 miles from the Russian border so what makes Biden think that the Baltic republics or eastern Poland are Putin’s next target?
A number of conservatives are warning on social media that this may be the prelude to Biden trying to start World War Three with Russia including Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) and former Trump administration advisor Steve Bannon. Sen. Lee tweeted that it appeared that Biden was sending thousands more US troops to Russia’s borders with the hopes that Russia fires the first shot, presumably so he doesn’t have to obtain a congressional declaration of war much as FDR did when he cut off all oil shipments to Imperial Japan and moved the US Pacific Fleet from San Diego to Pearl Harbor in the hopes Japan would attack the fleet as a backdoor to war against Germany.
Former Acting Assistant Secretary of Defense Frank Gaffney questioned the motives for Biden calling up thousands of reserve troops. “Ostensibly, it’s to shore up our forces in Europe. But are they meant for a shooting war in Ukraine, without congressional approval or public support?” Gaffney rightly concluded that if sending US troops to fight Russia in Ukraine is the plan, it would only serve “to embolden our main enemy, the Chinese Communist Party, to believe it can wage war against us with impunity.”
My first reaction to hearing the news of the Biden mobilization order three days after the NATO summit in Vilnius was that this order was taken in furtherance of a commitment, he made to Ukraine to substantially increase the number of US troops deployed along the Russian border. I referenced the fact that in April 2022, NATO leaders promised to increase the size of their rapid reaction force capable of deploying to Eastern Europe within thirty days from 40,000 to 300,000 troops and that this move might be in furtherance of getting closer to achieving that objective.
