How Biden Should Respond to a Russian Invasion of Ukraine

The Biden administration must avail itself of every diplomatic opportunity before and, especially after, a hypothetical Russian invasion of Ukraine to de-escalate the conflict between the U.S.

U.S. leaders are playing a dangerous game that might very well provoke an unnecessary and potential nuclear war with Russia over Ukraine and the destruction of the NATO alliance. The potential for escalation and miscalculation following a Russian invasion of Ukraine, leading to a full-scale war between the United States and Russia and the loss of tens of millions of American lives, has never been greater since the end of the Cold War.
