- The West should have stopped its support to Ukraine months, a year ago. Or shouldn't have started this silly war at all.

We never should have sent them a single weapon or munition. If we hadn't the war would have ended three years ago.

- Correct. But sadly the UK & US didn't want the Istanbul accords (of april 2022) to succeed.

- There were too many people who had a economic/financial interest in this war and continueing the war. Like the military industrial complex. Sad, very sad with so many lives lost.

- The most sad thing is that the Ukraine & Europe have paid the largest price for thew ambitions of the US global Empire. The US has been meddling in Libya (2011), Yemen (2015 - 2017) and in Syria (2011 - 2017). As a result Europe had to pay the price for that meddling in the form of refugees fleeing from those countries to Europe. The Us meddles somewhere in the world and the countries over there have to pay the steepest prtice.

- I actually fear Trump c.s. will continue the US Imperial project with a war with China in the coming years.

- I DO NOT like Trump at all (fro multiple reasons) but ending the war in the Ukraine is / will be a positive achievement of Trump c.s.

Beyond the pain of watching the President AND the VP of the most powerful country on the planet torching IN PUBLIC the president of a small country destroyed by war, not out of their own bellicose tendencies, but because of dark external appetites of wich that most powerful country is a recognised center, if you think that that is the best of that president' hour, wait until we all wake up to its worst.

THIS kind of dirty laundry washing has all the ingredients of a giant socio-political drama première that will make it to the history books, and definitely, definitely not in the best of light.

THIS show may seem personalised by two mere individuals, one a former actor, the other a reality show producer, but it engages sovereign higher principles of a cyclope facing an ant. Or let's say a busy negligent parent with a rebelious self destructive child while siblings are watching. Not pretty. But...surprised???

We have entered shaky waters way before, but getting out of it is NOT going to be as smooth as some make it look like.

No fan of either presidents. But a humble individual whose heart broke again and again at the sight of such obsenity, for both americans and ukrainians. None of those deserve this. The World doesn't deserve this. THIS is definitely not international diplomacy nore high principled politics to say the least.

(Two seconds of rant this insignificant writer thanks you at least for the open space and the opportunity)

Sorry to say.

President Trump is the only person on earth with both the courage and the ability to end the war and negotiate a fair and lasting peace to end the war and save Ukraine. It is Zelensky, Biden, Boris Johnson and EU and UK leaders who are hell bent on destroying Ukraine and they are solely to blame for the slaughter of a generation of Ukrainian men as Putin spent 15 years to try to resolve the NATO in Ukraine crisis diplomatically but NATO leaders refused to hear his pleas.

I wonder did you watch the entire meeting? I was a little shocked when I saw just the last 10 mins which is what most outlets let us see. But I felt there was something missing so I hunted out the whole 50 or so minutes of it.

Unfortunately Zelensky came across as very demanding from about 4 mins in and continued like that throughout. That surprised me even more as it was a press conference to talk about an agreed deal, yet Zelensky was bringing fresh demands and airing in public what should be discussed behind closed doors.

What was even more surprising is how for 40 mins Trump answered him politely and was actually very friendly and trying hard to keep things in check. Things only got unpleasant in the last 10 minutes when Zelensky made it clear he wasn't interested in diplomacy and that only security guarantees would do. It was quite astonishing.

So although he may be the head of a small beleaguered nation as you point out, his overall behaviour was unreasonable given the circumstances of the occasion ie a press conference being filmed for a worldwide audience.

I felt that he really wasn't looking to end the fighting at all. A great shame. I hope he will eventually do the right thing by his people.

Exactly right. Trump was surprisingly patient with Zelensky's rude demands and interruptions until the last 10 minutes of the meeting. The bottom line is that he came across as trying to dictate US foreign policy to the President of the United States in the Oval Office which he had every reason to know would lead Trump to shut off all US military aid to Ukraine.

It's naive to believe that Zelensky is humble; remember he is an actor. President Trump was correct to dish out to him a dose of reality considering that he IS gambling with WW3!!

Too many people are unaware of the history leading up to the Ukraine conflict: the 2014 coup, the eight years of bombing Russian speaking civilians in Donbass, NATO expansion despite Baker's promise not to move "one inch to the East".

Zelensky is not acting in the best interests of the Ukrainian people as if he was he would be seeking a peace agreement now before more lives are lost!

The legacy media never report the true history behind the Ukraine war which Biden could have avoided. For the truth listen to people of integrity like Jeffrey Sachs, John Mearsheimer, Col. Douglas MacGregor, George Galloway and others.

Exactly right! Zelensky is a disgrace and is committing national suicide for his country much as Hitler committed national suicide for Germany. We need Ukrainians to depose him and restore democracy to help Trump save Ukraine!
